Employee Discounts?

Recently, Kmart has repealed its associate discount privelege with the exception of purchases made using the following methods:
~ cash
~ checks
~ SEARS card

I have no idea why this is, but I have some feeling it's to do with corporate and the penny-pinchers there. Has this happened at any of the stores you folks work at? What do you think of it?
